Earning a living as an artist since 1985 has allowed Lois Virginia Babb to express a love for the beauty of nature through painting. She first studied art at Radford University, later earned a technical degree in commercial art, and worked in advertising for several years. She began mentoring with master European painter, the late John Szèkes. During this creative period, she decided to devote her life to painting Like most serious classical artists, she continues to study the time-honored methods with master painters. In the past two years, she has studied with David Leffel, C.W. Mundy and several Plein Air Painters of America Members, including Matt Smith and Ralph Oberg.
Today, she is drawn to plein air and alla prima painting, feeling the traditional "painting from life" experience is the most direct and honest way to express feelings about a subject.
