Lauren Bruce, a Lynchburg native, has been painting since she took an adult studio class at the age of nine. Her work resides in private and public collections and she has won local, regional, and state recognition over the last twelve years. Lauren's work has been seen in numerous shows, sold at several auctions, and published in a 2003 calendar.
It is clearly apparent in her work that she loves to paint. Her spontaneous brushstrokes form a lasting impression that surpasses the original subject matter. That technique exposes a true energy to be enjoyed. Lauren's focus is to creat images which evoke pleasant and unforgettable paintings. Memories of everyday snapshots are enhanced with her lush brushwork and vibrant color palette. That exceptional energy Lauren brings to the canvas promises refreshing, extraoridnary impressions.
Lauren currently works as a fulltime studio artist in Alexandria, VA out of her home-based studio. She graduated from James Madison University in 2002, after spending her last year of formal training studying art and art history at Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy, which earned her a BFA in Studio Art and Art History. With a passion for oil paintings, Lauren also works in watercolor and acrylic mediums. As a current goal, she is working towards adding murals and portraiture to her painting repertoire. Many of Lauren's paintings are small tributes to her experiences traveling across Europe and elsewhere.
